Rules

4 tournaments, one a month, starting Sat, Sep 26. The remaining dates and playoff night are not set yet. Every bracket runs on start.gg and results post here automatically.

Match rules

Set length

Sets are best of 3, first to 2 games. Winners final, losers final and grand final are best of 5, first to 3.

Character select

Players pick their characters first. Either player may request a blind pick.

First stage

Either RPS for stage striking, or gentleman's agreement to a stage both players accept.

Later games

The winner bans 3 stages. The loser then counterpicks from what is left.

Points

What each placing pays, by how many people entered that bracket. Bigger brackets pay more, in steps of 2, so one extra entrant is never worth chasing. Every placing that exists pays at least 1.

Season score

What counts

Your best 3 of 4 tournaments count. The lowest is dropped, so one bad night costs you nothing.

Missing one

A tournament you do not enter scores 0, which means it is always the one dropped. Miss more than one and the zeros start counting.

Entering

No separate point for entering. You do not need one: every placing that exists pays at least 1, so turning up and placing last still scores.

Bracket size

Points scale with how many people actually played, counted from the final standings rather than the signup list, so a no-show does not inflate anyone's points.

Playoffs

Qualifying

Enter at least 2 tournaments. Anyone below that is not seeded into either bracket, whatever their points.

Brackets

The main bracket holds 8, but only the top 7 are seeded straight in. Seeds 8 to 15 play the B-League, and whoever wins it takes the last slot. So the B-League awards no season points, but it is a way in rather than a consolation.

Format

Double elimination. Sets are best of 3, first to 2 games. Winners final, losers final and grand final are best of 5, first to 3.

No-shows

If a seeded player does not turn up, the next seed moves up and the B-League slides. The cutoff is when playoff signups close.

Ties

Players level on points are separated in this order. The first one that differs settles it.
